Why wet shaving with brush and soap?

Why badger hair 

There are shaving brushes with pig bristle and badger hair. Pig bristle is very hard, however, and you scratch more in the soap instead of foaming. Badger hair is soft and produces a fine soap foam. Proper care of a shaving brush is simple:
