MATERIAL: This razor is made of carbon steel with the material designation 1.2210, better known as silver steel. To achieve a hardness of about 61 HRC, the material is heated to over 1000 degrees and then immediately quenched with a special oil. The subsequent tempering at about 200 degrees gives the blade elasticity and toughness. The ornaments are created by a coating with 24 karat gold.

HANDLE MATERIAL: Ebony is one of the most valuable woods on earth. It is exceptionally hard and heavy. Therefore, it is excellently suited for making a high-quality handle. Its structure allows the wood to maintain its shape even in humid environments and not swell. Several grinding passes are necessary to create the silky smooth surface.

GRIND: In hollow grinding, the straight razor is concavely ground from the spine to the edge. This design combines great flexibility with high torsional stiffness in longitudinal form. The blade dynamics provide a gentle shave accompanied by a very characteristic sound caused by the razor vibrating when cutting hair.

BLADE DESCRIPTION: The round point is the classic shape of a straight razor and suits most shaving situations. This blade style has been very popular for centuries because the belly shape can be used very safely around the ears, nose, and dimples. In case of an accident, the round point also protects you from injuries.

BLADE WIDTH: Straight razors in the size 5/8 inch are real all-rounders and can master every task around classic wet shaving with ease. The blade is relatively heavy and can therefore glide gently over your skin without much pressure. At the same time, it is still agile enough to handle technically demanding areas around the nose, ears, and chin.

APPLICATION: Your shave begins by stropping the knife on a strap. After you have generously applied shaving foam or shaving oil to your face after you have brushed it, you hold the knife so that the open handle points away from you shows. With your free hand, you stretch your facial skin as much as possible to form a flat surface. You place the knife at about a 30° angle and gently scrape over your beard with it. First with the grain, then across and finally against the grain. 

CARE: The most straight razors are made of carbon steel. To prevent staining to avoid that, rinse your knife with warm water after shaving. Now you pat it dry with a cloth without touching the blade and store it open in a dry place. Between two uses, you should lie for at least 48 hours, the stressed cutting edge can stand up on its own again.
