Böker Razor Blade Knife Olive*

BÖKER MANUFAKTUR

100% MADE in Solingen GERMANY

NEW!!!

The Böker razor blade knife stylishly combines the advantages of a forged straight razor with those of a safety razor. The handling is comparable to a straight razor, but the effort of cleaning and stropping is eliminated, as the replaceable razor blades can simply be changed. The completely newly designed Böker razor blade knife is not only very popular among wet shaving beginners, travelers, and professional barbers and hairdressers, but is also widely used in the home bathroom as a low-maintenance and comfortable companion. Especially barbers like to use the uncomplicated replacement blades in the tightly scheduled business operation due to hygiene regulations, instead of disinfecting traditional straight razors. The Böker razor blade knife follows the geometry and size exactly of our forged straight razors. Thanks to the grooved plastic grip surface, it always offers secure hold for the fingers. The blade holder consists of stainless steel and moisture-resistant plastic and is designed so that both the widely available 43 mm standard blades for classic safety razors (Double Edge) and 65 mm long standard blades can be used. Before insertion, the double-edged razor blades are carefully broken in the middle.

The handles of the razor blade knives are based on the forged straight razors from the Böker manufactory and leave nothing to be desired. Moisture-resistant plastic with nickel silver inlay, hand-selected olive wood with contrasting grain and elaborate decoration or genuine horn with decorative rivet are available. The Böker razor blade knife combines professional practical suitability with the usual handling and balance as well as the authentic aesthetics of a classic straight razor. In addition, it offers a price alternative to the forged straight razor for beginners. Delivery is made in historical packaging with a double edge blade.

The olive wood handle gives the Böker razor blade knife Olive its special accent and impresses with a lively grain. This model is refined with the classic Böker tree symbol, which is delicately worked into the wooden handle. The blade holder is suitable for standard commercial blades with widths of 43 mm and 65 mm.

Due to the use of natural materials, the various specimens differ from each other in part.

* Olive wood

Olive wood is used in knife making to produce exclusive handles. It has a gray-primed coloration with beautiful color nuances and a strong, individual grain. Olive wood is very hard and dense and has high resistance to moisture.

The wood of the olive tree

Whether in Southern Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa: the olive tree is not only cultivated around the Mediterranean but also symbolizes the landscape and culture of this region like no other plant. It grows only under very specific climatic conditions, especially those found in the Mediterranean area—it needs little water and tolerates heat but no frost. The olive tree has been cultivated as a useful plant since the fourth millennium BC and today exists in more than 1000 different varieties in the Mediterranean region alone. Additionally, olive trees are found by the Black Sea, in the non-Mediterranean regions of the Middle East, and in southern Africa. Depending on the variety, olive trees reach heights between ten and twenty meters. They grow very slowly but can live for several hundred years. Their gnarled growth is characteristic.

The hardest wood in Europe

The slow growth on predominantly barren, dry soils and the peculiarly irregular growth of the olive tree give its wood very special qualities: On the one hand, the slow growth causes olive wood to become very dense and hard—harder than any other native European wood species. On the other hand, the gnarled growth provides a characteristic grain that varies greatly from tree to tree. The sapwood of the olive tree is light yellow, the heartwood is grayish and mostly interspersed with dark brown streaks.

Precious due to slow growth

Olive wood is precious not only because of the extremely slow growth of the olive tree but also because it must dry for several years before it can be processed. In its processed state, it has a very smooth, slightly glossy surface that can be maintained by regular rubbing with olive oil. Besides being used for making high-quality knife handles, olive wood is also mainly used in furniture making.

Böker Razor Manufactory

Since the beginnings of the Böker Knife Manufactory in 1869, high-quality razors have been produced in Solingen. Even then, the focus was on processing absolutely high-quality materials and emphasizing the highest manufacturing quality. The success of this product policy quickly became apparent, making Böker razors internationally known. After the end of World War II, the production of razors was gradually discontinued. Today, an original Böker USA catalog from 1906 is the oldest document in the company archive about the razor assortment at that time. Classic and traditionally made razors have been experiencing a true renaissance for some time. Worldwide demand is continuously increasing. In recent years, we have made significant investments in razor manufacturing in machinery, personnel, and further development of know-how to meet the growing demand for high-quality razors and to further expand our strong market position.
