Promising distance, the gentle rustling of the waves, and the seemingly endless expanses of the ocean: On its maiden voyage from New York to Southampton in June 1895, there was a lively holiday atmosphere aboard the S.S. St. Louis. At that time, the passenger ship was considered one of the prestige objects of the influential American Line and sweetened the departure to distant Europe for up to 1370 passengers with exclusive luxury spread over 169 m in length at a pleasant cruising speed of 19 knots (approx. 35 km/h) – fine snacks and stylish comfort included! With its four-expansion steam engine, the S.S. St. Louis was one of the largest and most powerful ocean liners under the American flag around the turn of the century. Mainly intended for transatlantic liner traffic between America and Europe, the steamship was temporarily used as a troop transporter during the Spanish-American War and the First World War. After this turbulent time, the ship was to be dedicated entirely to liner traffic again, but in 1920 a serious major fire occurred on the ship, abruptly ending this plan.

In the spirit of the transatlantic liner launched in 1894, Böker presents the American Line S.S. St. Louis, a worldwide limited edition of 300 pieces of the historic Böker razor that brings back the splendor of days gone by and turns every shave into a touch of exotic distance. The impressive ship decorates almost the entire front of the polished 6/8" carbon steel blade in detail. The used straight razor head is considered by connoisseurs the perfect blade shape for a precise contour shave. The blade edge is stamped with the historic H. Boker & Co. mark and features serration on the underside. The handle scales are made of exquisite ebony, whose dark color recalls the hull of the S.S. St. Louis, while two rivets and the Böker tree shield harmoniously accentuate the rounded handle. The motif on the blade and the historic stamp were elaborately restored and laser-engraved on the razor using the latest methods. Delivered in a historically lovingly recreated neck box carton.

Böker Razor Manufactory

Since the beginnings of the Böker Knife Manufactory in 1869, high-quality razors have been produced in Solingen. Even then, the focus was on processing absolutely high-quality materials and emphasizing the highest manufacturing quality. The success of this product policy quickly became apparent, making Böker razors internationally known. After the end of World War II, the production of razors was gradually discontinued. Today, an original Böker USA catalog from 1906 is the oldest document in the company archive about the razor assortment of that time. Classic and traditionally made razors have been experiencing a true renaissance for some time. Worldwide demand is continuously increasing. In recent years, we have made significant investments in razor manufacturing in machinery, personnel, and further development of know-how to meet the growing demand for high-quality razors and to further expand our strong market position.
