In autumn 2012, we were invited to a wet shaving event in Chicago, and it was the first time I visited this great American city. Chicago impressed me in many ways... the architecture, the food, the boulevards, and the way the water of Lake Michigan flows over the Chicago River directly into the city. But what really grabbed me was the heart and soul of the people I met there. If you have visited Chicago, I don’t need to tell you how passionate and colorful the people of this city are; and if you don’t believe me, just watch a shaving video by Ray Pope! The people are great!

So, why a shaving soap "For Chicago"? Well, for about a year and a half we had a collaboration with a store in Chicago that sold our RazoRock products, and during that time RazoRock products were used and appreciated by many wet shavers in the city. I exchanged numerous emails with our customers from Chicago, and their passion was just as strong electronically as it was when I visited in person. Unfortunately, the relationship with our dealer in Chicago cooled off due to differing values and opinions about business and was eventually ended. Fortunately, we live in the "internet age," and many of these customers began buying their RazoRock products directly from us. This soap was created to say THANK YOU to the passionate and loyal people from Chicago who continue to support us, even if the purchase is no longer quite as "local" as before.

I personally selected a scent that I believe matches the strength and soul of your great city. I hope I do it justice.


Fragrance: The scent of "For Chicago" is best described as masculine-floral. It has a clean mandarin/citrus top note with white floral notes (jasmine/gardenia) and warm amber heart notes. The base features light wood and leather notes as well as a subtle powderiness.

Ingredients: Stearic acid, water (Eau), Cocos Nucifera (coconut) oil, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, tallow fatty acid, hydrogenated lanolin, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) butter, fragrance (parfum), Argania Spinosa (argan) oil, Aloe Barbadensis extract (aloe), citral, coumarin, benzyl salicylate.

Tips: RazoRock Italian shaving soaps are suitable for use with a traditional shaving brush. To use this shaving soap, simply swirl a wet shaving brush on the soap for 30-40 seconds. Then you can either lather the foam directly on your face or in a shaving bowl and add drops of water to the foam until you reach your desired consistency. Less water produces a thicker and pastier foam, more water produces a smoother and thinner foam. Let the soap dry completely before covering it again with the lid. If you use the soap daily, you do not need to cover it.


RAZOROCK - made in Italy

The story of RazoRock began on an Italian holiday in 2009. Joseph’s father-in-law, a retired Italian barber, asked Joseph to find and bring back alum stones. Alum stones were very hard to find in North America at that time and his father-in-law couldn’t shave without them! Joseph enlisted his uncle Michael for the hunt and Michael eventually found a bunch of alum stones in a small shop in Lucca in Tuscany. Michael and Joseph were both curious about these salty-looking stones, so they tried them. They wetted them and rubbed them on their faces after shaving and you know what? They worked! The stones sealed small nicks, tightened the skin, and helped eliminate skin irritation after shaving. An idea and a business were born immediately!

The business started as a hobby and pastime, but when they both were the first to dive into the world of traditional wet shaving, they quickly realized how luxurious and fulfilling this lost art of shaving could be. Michael and Joseph began connecting with craftsmen of shaving soaps and aftershaves in Italy, commissioning them to create special formulations under the RazoRock brand. Passion took over and with the support of some very early and loyal customers, a hobby turned into a real business! Today, RazoRock offers a whole range of wet shaving products, including Italian shaving soaps with special recipes, handcrafted pre- and aftershaves, shaving brushes, traditional razors, a wide selection of natural deodorants, and much more. RazoRock is a grassroots business and Joseph and Michael owe their growth to their customers. The power of the internet and direct distribution, combined with word-of-mouth recommendations from customers, allows Joseph and Michael to put their passion for Italy and Italian-inspired products into every RazoRock product!
