The high-strength, anthracite-colored titanium nitride coating on one half of the scissors creates a self-sharpening effect, as the surface of the coated half is about twice as hard as that of the uncoated half. This makes the harder half significantly more wear-resistant and straightens the cutting edge of the other, softer half with each opening/closing (design protected).

The cutting performance tests were carried out with a device according to Research Report No. 2272 of the state of NRW.
The wear of the same manicure scissors without coating starts at about 50,000 cuts and ends at about 103,000 cuts with complete wear.
The STAHL-KRONE SC (Special Coated) manicure scissors still cut perfectly even after 103,000 cuts!
Furthermore, this development was awarded by the initiative "Germany at its Best" in North Rhine-Westphalia.
