The Böker Abalone combines an extraordinary appearance with outstanding performance. The die-forged blade of this exceptional knife is made from O1 carbon steel (1.2510) and hardened to 59-61 HRC. Due to its superior properties and excellent edge retention, this carbon steel is excellently suited for high-quality straight razors. In addition to classic materials that have shaped the popular models of the Böker straight razor range for many decades, we are continuously searching for modern and innovative natural material combinations that inspire enthusiasm due to their special appearance or feel. White gold, sea snails, sea or marine ears are just some synonyms for abalone.

The mollusks that attach themselves a few meters below the water surface off the coasts of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Mexico, and South Africa are considered a delicacy and have triggered entire gang wars in the past due to their desirability. Today, the precious natural product is farmed in aquaculture farms. The beautiful and almost artificially shimmering shells of these popular mollusks have always been used as decorative objects, as utensils, or as raw material for jewelry, inlays, or mother-of-pearl clips. By using the latest manufacturing processes, a very thin layer of colorful abalone is applied to a carrier material and encased in transparent acrylic. The resulting, very durable material is excellently suited for the production of razor handles and impresses with an extraordinary play of colors and a three-dimensional appearance.

The 6/8 inch wide blade of this exceptional razor is ground extra hollow for resonance and equipped with double-sided serration. The French point of the razor blade made of O1 carbon steel harmoniously fits into the extraordinary handle made of abalone. The simple laser engraving is based on a historical blade etching that was already used in the early 20th century for particularly exquisite razors by Böker. Delivered in historical packaging with a certificate of authenticity.

Böker Razor Manufactory

Since the beginnings of the Böker Knife Manufactory in 1869, high-quality razors have been produced in Solingen. Even then, the focus was on processing absolutely high-quality materials and emphasizing the highest manufacturing quality. The success of this product policy quickly became apparent, making Böker razors internationally known. After the end of World War II, the production of razors was gradually discontinued. Today, an original Böker USA catalog from 1906 represents the oldest document in the company archive about the razor assortment of that time. Classic and traditionally crafted razors have been experiencing a true renaissance for some time. Worldwide demand is continuously increasing. In recent years, we have made significant investments in razor manufacturing in machinery, personnel, and further development of know-how to meet the growing demand for high-quality razors and to further expand our strong market position.
