Snakewood is a very hard and beautiful wood. It can be perfectly polished but is difficult to saw because it is very hard.

Dr. Dittmar has used for the first time for hair combs is snakewood (also called tigerwood or muscatwood) used in the production of high-quality hair combs. Until now, this wood was only used in the manufacture of musical instruments or earlier, in very expensive walking sticks.

The the exceptional grain of the wood is unique for each comb varies. The wood is very hard - therefore the edges are extremely smooth to the hair and there is no fraying of the wood. This is good for hair, because this property is comparable to horn.

Furthermore can absorb the natural oils of human hair and thus act become antistatic after some time of use.

Combs made from this Materials are extremely rare - only available in Europe at Rasur-Online. They last virtually forever and are excellent for hair care.

Lexicon for Tigerwood:

Letter wood (letterwood, snakewood, tigerwood), from South America [* 3] (Surinam and Guayana) originating reddish-brown wood [* 4] with black spots, which resemble letters or have snake scales. The best variety is rare and is only used for the most expensive walking sticks. The Dutch call it Nutmeg wood, because it resembles the appearance of a sliced nutmeg. It originates from Machaerium Schomburgkii Benth. (Papilionaceae) in Guayana, Piratinera guianensis Aubl. (Urticaceae) or Amanoa guianensis Aubl. (Euphorbiaceae).
