SUWADA Handmade in JAPAN

Since 1926, SAWADA has been producing the finest cutting tools.

Since its founding in the city of Sanjo, known for the craft of blacksmithing, Suwada has been producing cutting tools and is now known for our professional manicure and pedicure instruments, bonsai scissors, and kitchen tools.

Suwada enjoys an excellent reputation both in Japan and abroad for manufacturing the finest blades and cutting tools.

All SUWADA nail clippers are individually handmade by our experienced craftsmen, from forging to final finishing. With techniques and experience accumulated over many years since the company's founding, we are dedicated to perfecting the original function of edged tools: cutting. Today, we produce over 20 models of nail clippers. They are beautifully shaped, designed to support their primary cutting function, with blades gently curved to fit the shape of nails, and edges capable of cutting even thick nails, ingrown nails, and deformed nails. SUWADA nail clippers are valued not only by households but also by professionals in nail salons and medical clinics worldwide.

SAWADA JAPAN
Our corporate identity, consisting of distinctive Japanese punctuation marks, ten (comma) and Maru (period), symbolizes how we at Suwada Blacksmith Works offer products that only Japanese craftsmen can make, or rather, that only we at Suwada can make, and connects to the long tradition of outstanding Japanese craftsmanship.

This corporate identity expresses our thoughts and passion, with Suwada Bright Red representing the color of fire, which is essential for blacksmiths.

Suwada Blacksmith Works is located in the city of Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, a place long known as one of the world's leading production centers for high-quality cutlery. The company's history dates back to 1926, when its founder, Shukusaburo Kobayashi, began manufacturing kuikiri or carpenter's scissors in response to the rising demand for new homes after the 1923 Kanto earthquake.

Since then, Suwada has specialized particularly in nippers that cut an object between a pair of perfectly connected blades, while simultaneously insisting on a careful approach to consistency in manufacturing, from the careful selection of raw materials to the manual finishing of each product. Although many other companies in our industry have fallen by the wayside over the decades, we have not only successfully preserved traditional techniques but also continued innovation here in the city of Sanjo, where high-quality materials and skilled craftsmen are abundant.
